Recap of February 2024 Lawrenceville Happenings: PRT and evolveEA
Our Lawrenceville Happenings were hosted on Thursday, 2/08/2024 at 6:30 PM at New Alliance Federal Credit Union at 3709 Butler Street. This meeting focused on the redesign of the Herron Avenue Station that was presented by Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) and then LU and LC’s joint strategic planning process developments that was presented by evolveEA. There were 20 in person attendees and 10 virtual attendees throughout the meeting.
Dave Breingan, LU’s Executive Director, and Sarah Trbovic, LC’s Executive Director, gave an overview of the meeting and accessibility before turning it over to PRT to present. PRT has been meeting with the relevant communities and stakeholders for the past year to create a redesign plan for the Herron Avenue Station along the busway. They presented the feedback they heard along with the design ideas. The final public meeting will be held on February 15th and the final plan released to the public in March 2024. After PRT’s presentation, LU and LC switched gears to focus on their joint strategic planning process. Both organizations highlighted their work and accomplishments over the past 20 years before introducing evolveEA who shared some of the preliminary findings of the process so far. Lawrenceville has changed a lot in the 20 years that the organization have existed and as a result the work of LU and LC has evolved over time. This process is to prepare for the future to come. Following the presentations, attendees were invited to ask questions. Attendees shared a lot of thoughts around the future of LU and LC and will help to further inform the strategic process as it continues. The Community Survey evovleEA referenced is available to be taken at the link below.
