Recap of Community Development Activities Meeting on Liquor License Transfer at 4129 Butler St
On Thursday, February 27th, at 6:30 PM, Lawrenceville United and Lawrenceville Corporation hosted the Community Development Activities Meetings at Ice House Studios(100 43rd St). The CDAM focused on the liquor license transfer for 4129 Butler St (formerly Merchant Oyster). Csilla Thackray is the majority owner of the new venture for the space, Titusz, a restaurant which will serve Hungarian and other Central European cuisine.
The meeting opened with LU’s Emma Gamble (Community Engagement & Program Manager) and LC’s Ross Greenberg (Business District Coordinator) giving introductions and explaining the ground rules of the meeting before turning it over to Csilla Thackray. Csilla was joined at the front of room with the two other partners, Domenic Branduzzi and Roger Li.
Csilla has an extensive background in the Pittsburgh culinary scene, but this will be their first restaurant. Titusz will be focused on creating a variety of experiences for people to enjoy, including tasting menus and a supper club, in addition to providing table seating. They will be wine-focused in terms of alcoholic offerings, along with beers and craft cocktails. Titusz will create a warm and welcoming environment for all who visit the restaurant. Over the next few months there will be an expansion of the kitchen and updates to the space, so Titusz looks forward to greeting customers hopefully by Fall 2025.
Following the presentation, a Community Q&A was opened up and LU and LC shared upcoming events with attendees before closing the meeting. LU and LC greatly appreciate all the feedback provided.
